Our specialist team at Lantrip serves to provide students with an enriched curriculum beyond the four basic academic areas. Instruction in physical education, music, computers, and library are part of each child’s daily learning experience.
Through physical education classes students develop fundamental motor skills and practice their cooperative skills. Not only do the students play sports but they also incorporate math and science skills throughout the class. For example, exercises are counted my multiply numbers as well as score keepers must keep score by multiplying numbers.
In music, students are engaged in singing, playing instruments, dancing and music theory. Music instruction incorporates activites across the curriculum. Lantrip’s choir and band ensemble provide numerous opportunities for musical performances as well.
In our computer lab, technology is integrated into other curriculum areas through educational games, interactive books and problem solving software. Students practice keyboarding and word processing techniques as well as publish their writings.
Our librarian advocates literacy awareness while creating an environment that nurtures lifelong learning. All classes have scheduled library classes and also have free access to the library all day. Teachers schedule additional time for research projects and computer use. The love for books and reading is instilled early on by stimulating interest in reading, viewing, and by using information and ideas.
